Turkish people are extremely friendly and eager to please, more so in towns and villages. I have lost count on the number of people (even strangers) offering to pay for my meals. Last week, I took a train to a village and was approached by a young person wanting to practice English. He showed me around and invited me to his house, where I was offered the best seat and Turkish coffee with sweets. His mother has blond hair and white skin, and they kept joking about me being her lost son. How do you repay so much kindness?
Some posts have made comments about students being rude, uninterested in learning, and arriving late to class. Quite to the contrary, my experience has been an extremely positive one. Adults in Turkey work extremely hard and are keen in career advancement. They work many hours a week (50+, just to make ends meet) and spend their weekends taking courses. To my question What do you do in your spare time? the typical answer is What spare time?

Yes, I agree. If you are a student in Turkey then that is what you do. And even more so if they are choosing to pay for extra classes, wanting only to better themselves. I'm actually looking forward to teaching people my age. |

Well I am almost 22. And since when is a little optimism a bad thing? I believe that this forum could use a little bit more of that. I mean, what else are newbies good for |

Actually I'm more interested in Turkish girls at this point. From what I hear, I have plenty of reasons to be very optimistic. I mean, why else would you guys stay in Turkey for so long? The Bosphorus must not be the only thing worth looking at in Istanbul, huh? |

As for me, I am not interested in the women, but I think the men are handsome. |

That's thinning, dear, not wearing thin. Didn't your gf relay the details of my current annoyance? Our 6 hour marathons at Cadde aren't just for ourselves. |

There are many beautiful sights in Istanbul. Such as TV8 at the weekends and Wednesday night.
Oh, be carefull of the Turkish girls in Taksim, many of them are neither Turkish, nor girls. |

When truck drivers pick up those 'girls' from the side of the freeway, is it because they have special tastes or because they honestly don't know?
I'd still like to know where the trannies get their shoes. I'm afraid to ask one, though, because they can get a little touchy about real girls and scratch your eyes out. Or something.
We have one out near Bizimkent on the E-5. It troubles me to think of who her clients must be out there... |
