Ive been living in a nicer neighborhood in Quito for 1.5 years now. My 3rd roommate has moved out and I need a replacement. It's a 3 bedroom apt. with 2 full baths near the "La Carolina" section of Quito. Your room is unfurnished but mattresses are cheap and apt. expenses will be under $100 total/month. Call the Gringo and the Brit (Bill and Matt, respectively) at 255-7374. |

I may be moving to Quito the end of August. Right now I'm trying to get an idea of how much money I'll need to pay basic expenses each month. Does the $100 you mention include both rent and utilities? |

Hey there,
This 100$ will keep you showered and warm with a roof over your head and a conventional telephone at your reach. It will not, however, keep your stomach full. Factor in another 100-150$ (if you eat well) for eating and such. If your only expenses are here, you can get by comfortably (with about one trip out of Quito/month) on about 500$/month. I make more and I have made a lot less. How are your survival skills? |

And both of the potential roomates are of good character. A bit quirky, but fun, and NEAT. (It surprised me, but is true.)
Did you guys get the hot shower installed?
Take care,

Thanks for such a quick reply to my question. I've lived several times in Mexico City and survived both the insane traffic and the pollution, so in that sense my survival skills are topnotch. Is that what you had in mind?
I'm sure you'll find a replacement roommate long before I arrive, but it is good to know that there at least two neat (in both senses of the word) potential roommates in Quito. |
