When I was leaving Pudong in June I handed the books to a lady at immigration and she handed them back. I was tired and stressed and did not want any ugly delays. I also wasnt sure if that was where to hand them in. Anyway this can't be too big a problem can it??? Should I perhaps mail them to school A or let the next school deal with it??? By the way 2 jobs will be in different provs and I left the 1st one on good terms... |

Take potluck. You don't know, they don't know... what's going to happen next time you cross the border? Maybe your name crops up on their radar screen...
I think your school should have returned that booklet. My school demanded my FE cert back, not my residence permit, which I still have with me, stating an invalid address.
I crossed the border on the day before my visa expired, and have returned to the Mainland on a new visa. I have had no hassles.
I do think, though, that there will be some awkward questions next time I try to get a job in the same city... |

Errr... I extended my residence permit with the help of the school admin until Sept. 3. By then I will have begun work in a new city, province. I also have my FE cert valid until that date. Can I switch over from one PSB to another in the same book - which provides ample space for change of occupation and address? No expiry stated on the Z visa led me to this course of action..
Perhaps this should be a seperate Q, soory for interfering.. Don't want another visa Q on here.... |

I'll arrive in the new city, different province, with an 18 day window preceeding expiry. If I contact the PSB on arrival, I think I'll have enough time to do it their way (whatever that may be, hopefully not a trip to HK). Regardless, I have the suppport of both my previous and future employer. Does this situation seem acceptable? Will it seem so to the PSB?? |

Strangely enough, I have always found the Chinese bureaus willing to work with any foreigner who comes looking for help, even if the foreigner has technically screwed up. Goodness of the heart? Or knowing that meeses with foreigners are too time consumin, and best to be avoided? Or th positive side of the Chinese mentality "uon't really matter unless they need to matter"? |
