I just arrived in Santiago and a very kind lady offered her home for a while so I can crash while I get my stuff in order. This is wonderful except for one tiny glitch, she lives in the middle of nowhere, all I see from my windows are new condos (although alot of them look like small mansions hahahahaha) and the cordillera and dried up pastures. So my predicament, how to get downtown, or anywhere else for that matter, especially when this lady has never even been on a bus. Well anyway, getting right to the point, I found a web site, I think this might be a useful web site for anyone trying to get around in Santiago

you'll find incredibly detailed bus routes
practical information don't you think???

we must not forget the great metro system they have here
this site http://www.metrosantiago.cl/index.html
has some general information and if you click on Plano Red Metro you'll get a printable map of the metro lines
