|
|
A British Couple have just arrived here in HANGZHOU after escaping a 'nightmarish' situation at a school near Qingdao (details available privately). I am hoping you can help them out, but there is some urgency to this request.
They have only been in China one week and their "Z" Visas must be upgraded within 30 days. They have all the necessary documents and photos to complete the applications.
They are both highly qualified TEFL teachers, with university degrees. He has his Masters in English Literature, and she has a Trinity TESOl Certificate. Both have lots of experience, having taught TEFL classes throughout Europe. Based on my meetings with them, I have discovered them to be very high energy people with dynamic personalities. They will be a tremendous asset to any university lucky enough to hire them.
Please email them directly if you have any university contacts you can provide to them. They can be reached at [email protected] You can also reach me at [email protected] Thank you in advance for your help. |

I am very concerned about this post. As far as most readers are concerned, this couple pulled a runner so until such time you can explain to us just exactly what happened in Qingdao to this couple, I have a strong feeling that many Davesters will not be very sympathetic. Why? Well, let's analyze what you have told us thus far. First, they have a Z visa and "have only been in China one week". So obviously the employer in Qingdao was able to get them all the documents required for them to come to China with a Z visa. Next, you say "after escaping a 'nightmarish' situation at a school near Qingdao". In all fairness, a week and it's "nightmarish"? Please elaborate and tell us if they discussed their concerns with the employer.
Now, did this couple consider the consequences of pulling a runner BEFORE getting their RPF? The fact is, their Z visa was sponsored by their employer in Qingdao. Somehow, I have this feeling that no employer outside of Shandong will be able to get them a RPF. Why? Because the Visa Notice and the Work Permit were issued in Shandong. I don't know about this for sure, but something tells me that regional PSB offices contain records of Visa Notices and/or Work Permits being issued. So an employer in Hangzhou takes their passports to the PSB to "upgrade" the Z visa to a RPF and guess what? The PSB office says they have no record that these people were issued Work Permit and Visa Notice. What happens next? Your guess is as good as mine. |

I'm very concerned about your post. Do these people need help? Do you offer any? Do you know these people? If they supply all the "required" info, can you help them? Will you help them? The posting is a call for help, not an invitation to be scrutenised. Why they are in this situation is none of your business. Yours is a typical posting here on these forums.

You are entitled to your own opinion TW; yet, I disagree with you speaking or guessing on behalf of Daves members.
Its a privilege to be and to feel a part of this forum, but assuming the role of a shepard is inappropriate...

Very observant of you TW.
Of course we don't know either way but I think that TW raises some good questions.
If the couple have been in China for only a week then it is probably safe to assume that their Z visas and other paperwork were processed overseas. Can we also assume that there was a flight involved? Let's hope for the schools sake that they did not reimburse this upfront
Also I think it a valid question as far as how much effort the teachers put into solving the problems that they encountered. One week is an awfully short time to really cover problems.
Then again the couple may have been totally justified in their actions as there may have been something quite terrible that occured.
I guess that we don't need to know the dirt, and these individuals certainly don't need to justify themselves to anyone, but I think that TW raises some very valid questions nonetheless. |

Dear Carol,
I have sent you a PM addressing this issue and hopefully we will be able to put them in contact with someone who can help. Please check your PM. And my apologies for the legalistic and cold-blooded answers to this OP. Whatever happened to decency? As one famous American said, some people have no shame at all.

WOW, I keep forgetting how nasty many of you people can be. This was simply a 'call for help'. If you can't help, or don't want to, then kindly leave your remarks to yourselves. Just remember the above remarks should you ever find yourself needing assistance here in China.
You know, this is exactly the reason I rarely post on Dave's, and instead PM those with whom I wish to communicate. BTW, I will PM those who have been kind enough to offer assistance. Thank you in advance. |

I have just deleted some messages on this thread for being inappropriate, offensive or just plain mean-spirited.
If you have nothing constructive to offer or can't provide the assistance requested, you may want to consider whether or not you really want to post on this thread.
Whatever the case, rest assured that whatever you do post here will be of intense interest to the Mod Team. |

I have just learned that with the help of some kind folks this issue has been happily resolved and that the British couple will soon be gainfully employed and that attention is being paid to the timely transfer of their documents.
I agree with Mr. Kalguchi and CarolH and YTange and hope that in the future when we receive a "cri du coeur" from ANYONE on this Board that all of us will respond with compunction, with decency, with charity and with kindness. I believe Abraham Lincoln once said "With charity towards all and with malice towards none".
In closing, I can only say how appalled I was at certain of the cold-blooded, Pharisean-like, legalistic and prying postings devoid of all humanity that several posters actually posted here. Frankly, as we help others, others will help us. As we maim others, others will maim us.
I wish this British couple every great success in their new endeavors in their new job. |
