Well folks, guest of Japan is leaving this island on March 15th. If any of you folk in the Tokyo metropolitan area are interested in getting together before I'm gone, I'd be glad to do it. It would be great if multiple people met at once since it helps to network for those still behind, and my time is limited. Post here and/or pm if interested.

And happy birthday to Me!

Congrats for both reasons. Where are you headed?

Sorry, Tokyo is a long way off, but savour the last remaining moments and check back in this forum once in awhile.

Guest, I'll be flying over Tokyo on March 10--I'll be sure to raise my plastic cup in a toast! Have a safe trip back.

It'll be touch and go for me through the beginning of May, but after that, I'm definitely open to the occasional beer (or three Wink ). If you're located on or near Kyushu (or as far north as Kyoto/Osaka), send me a pm--and let's start planning!

I'll be arriving in Kyushu on 23rd March (still no idea where yet) and I have been known to be partial to the occasional beer.

Thanks guys. I'm sure I won't abandon this board. I'm kinda married into it. Taiki, I'm certain we'll get our beer together someday, but you're not making it easy by putting your home on the tail end of Japan. I'll be sure to wave at your plane on the 10th. Gordon, I'm headed to Boston. I feel I've been gone so long now that my own country seems like an international adventure. I can't even remember the things I miss.

Hope you have a seamless move. I have been back for almost 2 years and have no regrets. I think I miss the vending machines the most.

I've only served a little over five years, but have had only one trip home in that time.

As I was typing this I had to make a mad dash for the kerosene truck as we've been out for the past few days. That is something I won't miss.

Sherri as much as I like Boston, I think it's safe to say that it would be hard to regret moving to Hawaii.

I'm having difficulty developing into a Red Sox or Patriots fan.

Dear Guest,

Happy belated birthday and congratulations on the coming move. Feel like I am losing a friend and we have never met. Anyway, I would love to meet up in Tokyo, if it's possible, please let me know where and when and I can see if it is.

May I ask, have you lined up a position over there?

All the best Guest,

Hey, Boston sounds like a great place to live too. Hawaii is of course a fantastic place to take a vacation in, not eveyone likes living here (too isolated for some and some people miss the seasons)

All the best
Sherri

Guest,

Let us know when you are available. I have more time off now that uni is on vacation.

Best to B-town, love that place!

PS Sherri, heading to Hawaii next month!

I live in Tokyo and have been known to occasionally enjoy a beer or three. In what area were you thinking of meeting? I think it would be nice to put a face to some of the names on this forum.

Hmmm. The weekends are filling fast. I'm free pretty much every weekday evening, but Wednesday. I know a great old style izakaya owned by a foreigner in Yurakucho. He married into it. It's under the realroad tracks and the food is awesome. Tall people will certainly find the bathroom a challenge, but it's fun.

No, Sherri, You'll get no complaints from me about Boston. I've been wanting to move there since the first time I visited more than a decade ago. This is actually a bit of a dream come true for me.
