|
|
Ghost resigned from a position back in November 2005, and gave back the ARC to the school it had resigned from.
The school should have given ghost a copy of the cancelled ARC, but three months later, ghost has still not received any copy of the 'cancelled ARC.'
When ghost applied for a new 2 month visa in the Philippines, the TECO office in Manila (Philippines) refused to issue a new visa, because ghost could not provide a copy of the 'cancelled ARC.' Ghost was lucky to get back into Taiwan, as the officer just glanced at the original 'multiple entry visa' (valid until July 31, 2006), and luckily (for ghost) did not ask to see an 'ARC.' Ghost spent over 2 weeks in the Philippines in during Chinese New Year, but the TECO office there had absolutely no empathy to the plight of the poor ghost.
The school ghost resigned from is not cooperating, and ghost does not even know whether the school cancelled the original ARC.
Has anyone else been in this position (resignation from a school or buxiban) - in which no documentary evidence of the cancelled ARC is provided?
Any suggestions, on how to become 'legal' again would be gratefully received.
Ghost is now studying Chinese language at a University in the Taichung area for 10 hours per week, but the coordinator there does not know what to do with ghost's paperwork, either!

Never give your ARC or ID to anyone. What do you think you greedy and corrupt former employer is doing with your ID. All they have to do is make a chop and they can open bank accounts, buy and sell property or transfer money in your name. Call the police and make a formal criminal complaint of a stolen ID before you get charged for money laundering.
Good luck!

LOL, Aristotle you never fail to entertain!!
Ghost, please be extra careful, because these horrible, sinning Buxiban owners may also use your ARC card to kill JFK, create UFO's and rig American Idol to make themselves win.
Be careful!! |

You may have to at some point. Just make sure that you get them back once the copies are made. They can't do much with the copies and you can't do anything without the originals. |

As the others have indicated, Aristotles advice is rather laughable.
One thing though, you do not need to give your ARC to your employer when you leave their employ. The ARC is yours not your employers and they have no right to require it. They can ask. And you can give it to them. But if you don't want to give it to them then they cannot make you.
I would recommend that you go the FAP and ask if there is any way that they can help you. They may be able to give you something to indicate that you held an ARC or they may be able to secure it back from the school.
It is a good opportunity to remind people to make copies of all important documents such as your ARC and passport. You never know when you may need these copies. |

Like almost everything Aristotle says, there may be a grain of truth here. I've heard stories about people using lost or stolen ARCs for various shady activities.
As an aside, some clown on ebay.tw actually stole my name because he was pissed over some negative feedback I left him. Does that count? |
