As I've said many times in the past, if you think 10 million a month is bad, and usually with a house supplied, try Central Java, where a house is not suppplied, and you'd be lucky to get more than 4 million. You can guess which chain of schools I'm referring to, I'm sure. Laughing

Year-over-year inflation was 18% for February. I hope people will start getting real about raising salaries.

Here's what one school in Bandung was willing to offer me:

The package we can offer is as follows:
- a salary of 15,000,000 Rupiah per month after tax and expenses
- a furnished one-bedroom apartment
- fully paid annual return airfares from the US
- fully paid travel/medical insurance
- a car with a driver for transport to/from school
- all expenses paid for in relation to work permits and visa applications

If that's a Nat Plus school terms and conditions are fine - if it's an International then the headline salary is on the low side. If it's an EF, look out of the window now and watch those little pink pigs whirling and diving.

The school's name has the word "International" in it but the curriculum is a "national plus" curriculum. I'm going there for about a month from mid-May to mid-June to see if I would want to teach children or if I would really prefer to teach adults.
