Hi,

I'm going to Spain in May after I finish my BA, planning to be there until June 07, as my girlfriend has one more year left at university there (in Salamanca). I would like to teach english, but there are two problems: she may do an exchange in Valencia next year, so I'm not sure about where I will be; I don't have a TEFL cert, and there don't appear to be any courses in Salamanca.

So, does anyone know if there are in fact any TEFL courses in Salamanca?
(or, for that matter, Valencia?). Am I better off hanging-on in Toronto for a month doing one here before I go? (girlfriend won't like this) Are there other easily attainable jobs for EU passport-holding, broken-Spanish speaking young people? Is it risky just showing-up?

Madrid's only a couple of hours away and you'll have a far wider choice of training providers there.

Thanks, I'm aware that Madrid is THE place to go for certification, it's just that I've been separated from my girlfriend for almost a year and don't think she will be keen on me arriving in Spain only to tell her I'm off to Madrid for a month while she's stuck in Salamanca.

With so many schools in Salamanca it seems a bit strange that they wouldn't have a TEFL course, but this seems to be the case.

The other possibility for me is to do a course in Gran Canaria, where I will be for part of the summer. Does anyone know of any courses there?
