Does any one know anything about the city Yamanakako? Like is there a gym there. Any kind of night life? Anything at all would be much appreciated.

Yep, I can help you with that. Yamanakako, Yamanashi is the sheer embodiment and very definition of the word BOONIES!

From a reputable online dictionary:

1 entry found for boonies.

boonies ( P ) Pronunciation Key (bnz)

pl.n. Slang

1. Rural country or a jungle.

2. Example: see Yamanakako, Japan.

But no, seriously now...

They don't even have a proper supermarket and as far as I know there is only one convenience store -- a 7-11.

Nightlife, huh? I suppose you could go take a moonlit bath in Lake Yamanakako... Or sit by the road going through the town watching cars drive past.

Gym? Not unless you're gonna build your own.

You couldn't pay me enough to move to Yamanakako. Way too tiny -- you wouldn't even be able to rent a video without driving out to Fujiyoshida...

Just so there is no mistake here, (if you're any good at analogies)

CITY is to YAMANAKAKO as SUMO is to WEE MAN

Thanks! I figured it was a small town! The job offer was too nice so there had to be a catch!
A special thanks for JimDunlop2's humour! I got a good laugh!

Now hold on, live there and you can drop in on Jake and Dolly at the Solar Cafe, stop in sometime if you are ever in the neighborhood.

The fishing is not bad either, though I wouldn't want to be there when Mt. Fuji goes off.
