Shanluu isn't completely off his rocker. With a few $US K a month, you could live a life of pure indulgence here. I've thought about it. But when he says "retirement". I guess he means "not working", and I'm not too sure which visa option covers that one. There's the D visa, which is theoretically a permanent residency thing if you're married to a Chinese, but in reality that's aimed at the big end of town, the businessman with A LOT of investment here: not a 4000 a month teacher.

And anyway, I'm sure he won't be burning his US passport - or his bridges.
And as for salaries, please take the 4000 Shanluu, as that means less competition at the better recompensed end of the market.

Perhap. Why?? oh, when I mean't read about China's overall situation I mean't the political and economic situation. I don't think China's economy is sound and a place I would want to sink my condo money. The political situation is even worse; corruption, ineffective gov't., inabilitly to change or adapt to the economic realities or even in general. Good luck Shanluu.
