Hi, I've never posted before but am a regular visitor to this site, and was hoping that you could all give me some advice.
I have an interview on thursday for a job as an english language assistant for the British Council, based in Argentina. The job, if I get it, will involve helping secondary school/university students with their spoken english, and possibly teaching grammar, writing etc..
They have given me a list of questions which they will probably ask, making the interview alot easier, but I would really like someone else's point of view.
1) What ideas do you have for lessons and how do you plan on using them?
2) What materials do you plan to take with you to aid with your lessons?
3) How do you plan to build a social life outside of school?
I hope you can help,
Sam |

I think honesty is the best policy in job interviews, but of course you can vary how you say things so that they have the best effect. What were you planning on saying? Maybe what you're thinking is fine, but we could help you tweak it a bit.
Good luck,
Lozwich. |

Well, as some one who is often on the other side of the interview, I think it is really REALLY important that the answers be your own. When working abroad, I think it is even more important that the people hired be a good fit for the position. For example how you build a social life outside of work is rarely a concern of employers in your home country, but a teacher who can't adjust can make a lot of people miserable in this buisness. I think Loz is on the right track, how do you think you'd answer now, then I'll tell you what I think of your answers. |
