Okay. Finally. Some actual-honest-responses from people who at least know more than 'pot is illegal' and 'if you do it, you will get caught' - I've been smoking on and off since High School and I don't intend to quit for a foreign government - despite the job - because it's only pot, goddamn it. And I certainly don't intend on getting caught... ever. And bully for them if they knock in my door one night and find a half-gram joint on my coffee table and a gram in my pocket. At least I know now to keep my money in a North American bank (say my Mom's) account so they can't take it from me when they decide to send me to prison... 'Cause obviously that's what I'm really coming over to Asia for. Why teach English when I can sell dope to prisoners...? And hooray for you if you notice my sarcasm...

I'm a dopefiend baby, I don't know why... All I wanna do is get high...

Don't even go there dude. As several of us have posted, the stakes are too high. But if your gonna smoke out in your room, be sure to have some 新台币 on hand for bribes.

Seriously some of the Asian, particular SE, countries will simply kill you. A few weeks ago, i smelled some burning reefer on the the streets of manila, and forced myself to walk across the street just to keep that out of my bloodstream. God forbid you get picked up for some other reason, and given a drug test, your hosed!

Remember, in any other country you are nobody. You have no judicial system like you're used to at home. As a former pothead, I can only advise you to learn to do without for long stretches as i had to do. Eventually you will find that other things give you much more pleasure without the danger.

Cool
I second Guilao... there comes a point when you must do without; call it a sacrifice, if you will, in order to become a better educator.

Exclamation Remember the story of Mathieu Forand, the Canadian who, (along with others), brought the ESL/EFL community into disrepute:
