OK this is where you guys on the Asian side get all smug. But at 8am on Tuesday everywhere in central Istanbul, north of the Halic will have water cut off for 30 hours. So if you don't have a depo- be prepared. |

I do keep saying this only because you give me cause to , water shortages rarely happen and having no water for more than a few hours it just never happens but thats Izmir ,not Istanbul, enjoy yourselves, washing from a bucket is just primitive . |

Scot, they are cleaning the filters! Don't the filters get dirty in Asia or Izmir?
Shwa, water storage tank, usually on your roof. |

So, is anyone actually without water at the moment? Cause I'm still washin' and bathin' and flushin' with no problems. |

lucky you! I've been without water since yesterday morning. I have enough for one quick shower and a full flush. I hope it comes back on overnight...
actually even though it is inconvenient, I can live with it and the electric outages. In North America either one would be tantamount to disaster and here it's just kind of "life in Istanbul" |

yay-- my water is back too. water bottles are filled, dishes are washed, and all water-related business is done. I sure do appreciate it when it's back... i'd rather be without electricity than water, though.
boy people on the square were really complaining about this water cut. They said they were writing and calling the belediye. Good-- they may be cleaning the filters, but what a stupid system when the water to millions of people is cut off for two f'ing days. |
