Most people living in Japan are so busy yet grocery stores don't have a fast lane. A lane for 10 items. Nothing is more iratating than to have to buy one or a couple of things and have to stand behind a line of people with carts full of food and items. And no one will even think of letting a person with one item go ahead. Yea of course one can go to a convenient store and pay 3 times as much for the same product!
What else can you think of? Or put your commit for the fun of it! |

Big John,
While I agree that a fast lane would be good, I have been let ahead by several customers when they see that I have 1 or 2 items, compared to their full baskets. |

Wow Glenski! Consider yourself lucky! Only people that knew me have let me ahead. Anyway don't get me wrong, I consider Japanese the most polite culture in the world. I look at it as a culture thing and so people at least here don't think of letting me a head and probably don't even notice I have one or two items.
And TokyoLiz I agree with you 100 and 10 %!!!!!!

Japan DOES need to serve me a large, BIG meal whenever I pay BIG money at a restaurant. I always feel that I get ripped off whenever I eat out. Small dishes, small smiles, small waiters, small table, small restaurant, Why pay BIG?
Japan DOES need to stop PUNISHING me with the subwayprices , JR prices and tickets to travel domestically. The prices are High as F***.
I mean, I know everything is Imported because we like to visit or live in this unique Island. But the prices are outrageous.
geez!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Burning: Sigmund Freud called that: catharsis.
Anyway, what I think Japan needs is a friggin' SIESTA. That's right! Every day, from 1pm to 3pm have a nice, hispanic-style siesta. Shut down the companies, businesses, schools, and take a nap! Hell, people need it! People here also need to learn the meaning of the word "manana." Leave work on time... The world won't come to a grinding halt if you don't finish what you're working on today... Work on it manana!
While I'm on this topic, come to think of it -- Japan also needs a few good Mexican restaurants! If you know of any in Tokyo or surrounding area, let me know! |

There are several El Toritos if you like that. Also, a couple smaller more authentic places in Shinjuku and Shimo-kitazawa, Jim. |

Are there really authentic Mexican restaurants in Shinjuku? The last time I ate at a Mexican restaurant in Japan was over 10 years ago in Shibuya. The barito had soy sauce in it! When I asked the cook if they had refried beans, he said, "We only fry our beans once!" |

I know a good Mexican place in Osaka (Shinsaibashi) and in Tokyo, it is not bad, take the Denentoshi Line and get off at Futakotamagawa. It is 10 minutes from Shibuya on the express train.
The restaurant is near the station. |

El Torito's is a big Mexican food chain-restaurant. The food is very Japanized but once you enter the place, you would swear you are in the States. They have a bar and lounge where you can sip Margeritas and munch on Nachos before going to the dining room, in fact you might do well to spend your entire time in the lounge pounding Margeritas and ordering a la carte. The one I visited was walking distance from Medaimae station on the Keio line,(first stop on the express out of Shinjuku)just walk over to Koshu-kaido(Route 20). There are other locations but I don't know off hand.
The one in Shinjuku is between the west exit and Kabuki-cho, on the right, may half to look around a bit, can't remember the name.
In Shimo-kitazawa the place was called the Ventura Twins, perhaps. You would also have to look around there, but if you have never been there it is a really nice place, you can easily check everything on foot. I believe there are a couple Mexican places.
In Urawa, out in Saitama, there is also a nice little Mexican place whose name eludes me but I know there is only one and it is a stone's throw from the shrine.
For something more hip and less Mec you could try Las Chicas near Omotesando dori and Meiji dori crossing.
As for getting a vector on those locations I suggest picking up a copy of the Metropolis, free on fridays at Kirin City and other locations, or go to their website.
You are probably going to be here this weekend for the march, right Jim?
Enjoy,
