Hey gang:

I have heard that one good way of finding an apartment in Warsaw or Krakow is to get off the train and look for people on the platform who have rooms to let. Is this true? Safe? And how/where do I find these wonderful souls? Do they carry signs or something?

I stayed at one in Cracow when I first arrived over 3 years ago.

Back then it wasn't quite the tourist paradise that it has become and there were far fewer hostels.

But to be honest with you, I'd prefer to stay in a hostel if I were only going to be around for a few days. Because it's not expensive, you're usually not going to be around anyway and you can meet other people passing through if you're alone.

Then again if you're with your lady or you're a babe magnet, like myself , then you may want to try to get a deal at the station. The longer you stay the lower the price should be.

If you want to rent a place long term then the train station is not really the place to be.

What do we call them now? Pleasing the eye females? Yes, very PC and ridiculous we are. The girls I know call the guys they like, babes. I don't remember anyone protesting.
