We note that some TEFL schools, of questionable quality, seem to pop up all over the world.
Is there a souce of information which can help determine if a school is operating legally in the country where it is located, before making a commitment to that school? |

Possibly impossible - given the language barrier - and the flakey legal status of most things overseas. But, then again, getting away from the world of legalism and legal mumbo-jumbo is not so bad.
Your best bet will always be to talk to the current teachers at a school - and even past teachers if you can. Ask them if they are happy, are they paid on time, does the school follow the contract that you signed, is the housing decent, do they like the local culture people food city? Do they enjoy their work, their students, their life there?
Ask a hundred other questions - and if you like the answers - the situation may be right for you.
I'd be FAR more concerned about the questions above than whether the school is "legal" or not - and legal in this part of the world can mean - or not mean - a multitude of things - or not. |
