I am not going to return home for a while but I am interesting in hearing what people end up doing when they go home. Do most people continue to teach or pursue another career?

You need another option on the poll; My home changed, I'm here now. |

I have to side with MELEE; I know that from force of habit I refer to my former residence as my 'home' country, but I don't see myself returning there (except to visit my family) for at least several years.
I can imagine myself working elsewhere in Mexico or even in another country, but I have no desire to return to the corporate rat race, and I don't have the graduate education necessary to get a decent-paying job doing TEFL back 'home'. And to be honest, I just don't feel at 'home' there anymore; it's a nice place to visit but I don't want to live there. |

I can't help noticing that there's no option for "open a beer, put on some music, and make dinner."

I've been looking after my new grandbaby. She's a real joy. I really didn't know that grandparenthood would hit my heart like this. That said, I keep a suitcase open to collect photos, realia, games, lesson plans, maps, and other teaching materials. I'll be back...

Sorry to those who would like a voting option "my home changed". This poll was supposed to be for people who actually returned home. I started the poll and did not vote since I have not returned home. I would add an option "my home changed" but it does not seem to be possible to do so. Thank you all for your responces. |

My home is Thailand - has been for four years - will be for the next thirty or so . . .
Go ahead - be jealous! |

JZer,
Maybe there's your answer. People who return home don't look at Dave's anymore (for whatever reason) and therefore don't vote??
Have a good day,
Lozwich. |

NNnaaa--you must be joking. Now, if you had said CAMBODIA, I certainly would be envious. |

Whoah, that is difficult to say!
My plan is to teach ESL somewhere, but since I haven't made it back home yet, right now it is just a dream...

I do, although I have to admit I spend a lot less time on here than I used to. |

My browser doesn't give me any "vote" option on this poll. I'm back home in a tenured ESL position with full benefits. I still have lots of connections in China through friends, as well as with my current job. I mainly drop in here on weekends.
But yeah, people who only worked in the industry for a short time probably don't have a reason to stay on the boards. |
