I am curious in regards to what language/languages people dream about learning. And why? Why are you infatuated with this language? Is it the language, the people who speak this language, or something else? |

I said Spanish if only because I'm fascinated by the Latin American culture, especially the salsa scene, and want to travel to places like Mexico, Cuba and the Dominican Republic. |

Actually I had English but I had too many poll options and had to delete some of them. |

I already speak French and German so I picked Spanish to round out the major European languages. |

I chose Spanish because it's the one that I've spent the most time studying in my life and I want to keep going. I speak it well enough, I suppose, but not as well as I'd like.
As far as new languages, I'd love to learn Italian. It's just so sexy!

In the past I've studied French and Indonesian, both out of necessity. I now study Spanish but actually have personal interest. My progress seems to be much better this time... |

Chinese. I think that it will be very helpful in the future. And I'd like my kids to speak it as well as English and Spanish. |

Being in Paris, I had to go with French, it is one of the first languages I ever learnt and I really love it. I also think it is probably the most useful language for me to study (since I already speak English) as it is used in many of the places where I would like to travel. Since I am off to Japan next I guess I will give Japanese a go and then maybe Spanish as it is also used a lot in many of the countries I would like to visit.

Picked Spanish as already speak French and Mandarin. (Have just read Bridget Jones's Diary and is in mood of dropping subject and article). Both language and people speaking language are interesting, and said language is dead useful. |

I would have said Chinese except that I am of Chinese descent and speak Cantonese. Unfortunately, I don't speak Mandarin although I know very well what 'Ni hao ma' means. . |
