Hi-
Ideally, I'd like to land a teaching gig in Mexico in the next year. I'm in Chicago right now, and would like to get my feet wet in the english teaching department while I'm still here (I teach art classes right now, so the teaching is not new, but the grasp of english grammar needed is). I'm thinking of taking a little course here and teaching a wee bit before heading south and taking a full-fledged TEFL course and getting placement in Mexico. So, if anyone has suggestions about a.) possible class ideas in Chicago, b.) reccomended programs in Mexico or c.) any experience you've had teaching/getting a job/whatever in Mexico, I would love to hear about it!
Thanks,
Sara |

Hi Sara,
For starters, I'd suggest posting your message on the Mexico Forum here at Dave's.

Thanks, I'm uber-new here, and found the Mexico forum right after I posted this. It's up there now, too, but does anyone here have ideas for the Chicago part of the question? |

Hi, I'm from Chicago-ish, Elmhurst, went to school in River Forest. Anyways, you might want to check out the College of DuPage. They have tons of classes and they aren't too expensive. Otherwise the school DuPaul, Dominican (our archrivals) might have stuff. I know that Domincian had an ESL programme for foreign students.
Being in CHicago, there is no shortage of schools to choose from.
For programmes in Mex, check out the link below. Also PM Guy Courchese (Hope I spelled that right) He has a TEFL programme and placement and from what I've heard, it's highly recommended.
Getting a job in LA isn't too diffiocult. finding a good one is. Though as an American, Mexico shouldn't be too difficult.
Good luck |
