Can anyone shed some light on this too?
The only dodgy place i went to in Poland was the central railway station in Warsaw HAHA. I saw this on a forum website actually called tripadvisor.com and knew what to expect and wasnt shocked so was well prepared, better than msot. The palce was smelly and grimy and just not a palce for a young lady to be alone at night catching a last minute train.
As for the poles in general it was like attack of the poles when chasing that train lol. I was like fu*k me one at a time. Least us brits know how to conduct ourselves. Well msot of us except the twats in caps.
I was shocked again when I paid for my ticket and cost only 30 zloty for 2nd class to Torun from Warsaw.
Poles seem to be amazed when they meet a British guy male or female. Is it surpsoe to be some sort of greatness for a pole to have friends from Britain USA ect.?
Chose 2nd class because im tight when comes to money. actually cost 7 pounds or less for a train ride one way to Torun from Warsaw 2.30 hours journey, UK would be mind blowing prices. double at least.
Back to the Forum, How is the criminal level here in Poland, Such as Torun. How safe is this City and Poland in GENERAL. |

Under Communism there were long periods of time when the only things shops were supplied with were vinegar.
Unless you were first in line or the cue in which case you might be able to get a piece of bread.
If you visit the Solidarity museum in Gdansk I think you'll gain a better understanding of Poles, especially the older generation.
People carry their histories with them. |

Fair enough. You sound sincere, so I take back my sarcy face and no argies.
I'm sort of the Hell raiser on this board.
Trust me before I came along this board was as interesting as the Macedonia board.
You can take my word for it, half the things I say I just say to get a response and it works everytime.
Now people are posting so much I rarely even have to answer these questions anymore.
Look out for pickpockets. Especially when you take off your coat.
Poles like to hang their coats. I did this once in a restaurant when there were just a few people there.
Sure enough a couple of guys sat next to us and hung their coats near mine. They looked at the menu, decided to leave, got their coats and my wallet.
Also be careful sleeping on trains, even if you lock the door. I once slept on a train with a locked door and suddenly woke up to find two guys in my compartment saying, "shhhh" and closing the door. Luckily I woke up and they didn't get anything.

Well this summer im taking one of those money belts. It's not one of those belts you have under your jumper (I know jumper in USA is something different but hey lol) but actually a money BELT that goes around your jeans so no way ina million years could it be taken, not unless someone managed to take your jeans off lol . Fair enough you have to fold and crease your polish notes but you can fit around 2500 in it. |

Paulmanser ,the money belt is not necessarily the way forward cos you might meet a girl.Follow my mate- in- Thailand's advice,-'keep your money in your socks and your socks on.'
That said going back to the OP,Poles are rude.I don't go for Mr Fomcalis bull about communism and breadlines...they teenagers weren't alive then. They'll quite happily dodge buying rounds, buying their own cigarettes and saying 'excuse me' when trying to get to the bar....even when they have a few quid.
Poles are also temperamental.Your friend one minute, gone the next.....all because you happened to remind them that Lineker knocked them out of the 86 world cup....or more generally cos they didn't understand you...you know, person a:"I don't give a monkey's." Pole:"Are you calling me a monkey."(Co,jestem malpa?)
Poles are also superficial and like the arabs, often befriend you cos you're useful to them in some way. They can practise their English, you can proof read their work, you can buy them drinks, you give them imaginary kudos.....da dee da and so on.Just look at the bunch of EFL losers who've got stunning girlfriends out here.
Most of the long timers in Poznan have long since stopped having anything to do with them....well as far as platonic situations go anyway.Us expats hangout together and exploit the cheap beer,'friendly' women and beautiful seasons and scenery that Poland has to offer.Call that shallow but it's just the way it is. |

So what you're saying is that once communism ended then Poland should have gone back to being like Merry old England?
You waste of space.

Poles that i made friends with anyway seem to have a hard time taking items from you, even a 50p bar of soap from when i was in USA haha. I was like come on ur joking. Even giving 7 dollars just so that he could come with me and few others for a train trip to new york city a she was slightly short one time. Its like its against their religion or soemthing. |
