I'd hate to say this but that's not entirely true. The Battle over Britain hadn't started yet. In fact when Poland was invaded the French went 5KMs into Germany and could have easily gone all the way to Berlin because all the German forces were concentrated in the East.

Yet both France and Britian did not invade because they were afraid the Germans would bomb their factories.

In fact it is even known that the French and the British were still hoping that they could reach some kind of agreement with Germany after the invasion of Poland.

But to be honest, most politicians would have done the same thing given the same circumstances.

As far as the States, well that was a time when the US didn't believe in getting involved in foreign wars (especially since Europe usually had one every few years anyway). Unfortunately times have changed and it doesn't look like my country will be going back to the time it used to stay out of foreign wars anytime soon.

Funny though they never thank those of us from the Western Allied nations for giving them back their country after the Huns were defeated in the First World War.

Oh well, that's Poland for you.

Good times.

Poland suffered by far the most, at least they fought to the last. e.g warsaw battle, unlike a enemy of the UK, one guess, La France.

Yeh battles in Europe dates back god knows how many years.

I'm told it goes back to one of the UK's greateast contribution of the century.

The Beatles. Wink

Then you follow that up with James Bond and forget about it! Very Happy (That's a little bit of Brooklyn from a California guy.)

In the tourist traps you may not notice much. But if you go out to Suburbia I imagine most English men can have quite a good time.

Who knows maybe you could go out there and write a book about it.

Could there be anything worse than that?

What, a bit like 1066 when the French took over completely, hence the fact our language is actually 60% Frank? THATS the reason we hate the French so much - theyre the only country that has ever succesfully dominated the whole of Britain (yes, that includes Wales, Scotland and Ireland too)

Yes, knowing the luck of the Welsh and Scottish, the Germans would've got as far as the borders and thought "bugger it", leaving the Welsh and the Scottish to laugh at us to enternity.

Englands biggest rivalries:
France,
Scotland,
Wales.

Not so much Germany any more 'cos we gave them a famous hiding in the football and the Irish by and large are ok.

No they didn't. The Normans invaded England. Norman = Nordman. They came from Norway. Lived in France for about 70 years and soon realised that the bit over the channel was the far more desirable real estate.

He wasn't that far off. About 40% of English is Norman, or Middle French as it may be called, meaning that English learned classes spoke 'French' and the peasants continued speaking Saxon , resulting from the Jutes, Angles and Saxon invasions. This lasted for something like 300 years. Just about all social language is Saxon, or Germanic, and nearly all scientific, or let's say intellectual language is Old French based on Latin. It seems that the Norsmen were in France for longer than 70 years before they invaded England, or were they just fast learners. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Guys, I think you'll actually find that nowadays 60% of the English language is 'chav' english, 30 'pikey' english, 8% text speak and the other 2% is actually the Queens English.

If you don't understand the following you won't be able to get by in the UK:

"u alwite m8, lovin' it large, youz goin' down da pub, gonna get wankered, yeah m8, gonna screw sum bitch innit"

Yeah, you're right. And you will have no chance in the American slums with those marbles in your mouth, if that's where you're heading. If you want to make a decent living, you might want to learn the Queen's English, or just English.
Are you saying that educated Brits can't order a pint in a pub without throwing in some numerals in other than the quantity of drinks they want?
