I'm going to be heading to Poland in August, travel a bit before before possibly going to Krakow for a teaching job. Just wondering if anyone is headed that way! I'm also thinking about staying in Bydgosczc if my plans don't work out in Krakow.

Let me know!

It's hard to secure a job unless you're here in Cracow.

That's great! We should keep in touch for sure as I'm sure we both would like to at least know someone when arriving Smile Where are you planning on going? What schools have you applied for? I have a BS in Elementary Education so I'm going to rely on that to get a job. I figure that I spent a lot of money to get that degree, it should get me somewhere! Smile

Just a question that I have been dealing with the the past couple of months.....how are you supposed to get a visa without a job?

I'm planning to do a CELTA course in June/July 2006 in Poland, probably at a training centre in Krakow. Hopefully I can then find some work - previously working in the IT industry....

I am a Aussie and happy for you to contact me....

i have a bachelor of journalism with honours, as well as a tesol certificate and a certificate in tutoring english from global tesol. my boyfriend and i are saving up and planning on heading over at the end of august. he is not going to teach - he's a network engineer. we're hoping that at least one of us can get a job secured before we go over.

i'm in the process of getting polish citizenship. my grandparents were born there and moved to canada after the war. my father was born in canada, but he is applying for his citizenship, which allows me to apply for mine as well. i hope that having an eu passport will help me get a job.

i haven't applied to any schools yet. i'm going to wait until april/may, when i have some more time to put some research and thought into it.

Best of luck to you in getting your citizenship in Poland! Sounds like you are staying for good then?

No-one should go to Krakow this year, heard there's zero chance of job prospects..... Very Happy

Well it seems i'd better get out there earlier then planned to beat the rush to get to Krakow!

Good luck when you get there and if you see a rather rotund Englishman pushing past you to get possible teaching jobs, that'll be me!

in case the above question was directed at my previous statement about there being no jobs in Krakow I just would like to say this was a, typically poor, English joke.

With over 70 language schools in Krakow (information from this forum) i'm sure there'll be plenty of jobs. Especially at the rubbish schools.

Funny. You don't get a visa without a job. But sometimes you need a visa to get a job...It gets tricky.

From what I understand, most of the schools in Krakow pay under the table to avoid such things. Just don't get arrested.

When I came to Poland, I was fortunate enough to have a job already lined up at a University and they filed all the paperwork for me.

Yes it's a good idea to send them now, but don't commit to anything. Tell them you will come meet with them and ask them what they have to offer. Smile
