Hi, I have a slight dilemma.

Either I get certified in the US, or in Chile. The later costs a lot more. Now one of the perks, I imagine, of getting certified in Chile, is then you have a group of people you immediately know. A support base.

On the other hand, financially its a rip off. How easy is it to find a community of people in Chile, if you just, step off the airplane alone? I'm assuming these boards help too...I'm just curious if people had any trouble meeting new friends at times.

And by community, I guess I mean ex-pat.

Which programs are you looking into? The cost should be similar, regardless of where you do it. I think the price that you mentioned in your other thread was so low because it wasn't the standard month-long intensive course. The benefits of doing it in the country that you want to work in are that you can get a head-start on getting a place to live, a job, and a visa.

You will find a community of ex-pat friends just as easily when you start working for schools in Chile.
