Dear All,
Please excuse any misconceptions I may have as I'm new around here I'm just completing a TEFL certificate in Canada as I'm leaving my PhD program with ABD and want to eventually teach in an international school. People have suggested to me that I should try and get a job in a university teaching as I have 4 years experience (albeit in History). Is this even possible without ESL experience? If so where shpuld I look for jobs?
As a Brit heading back to Europe I have no real preference of country, but would obviously wish to be in the EU.
Any ideas?
Cheers

Ok so ABD= all but dissertation in everyday language- it's the amazing North American system where you have to take coursework and qualifying teaching fields exams before you're allowed to write your thesis. So basically I'm through all the hoops, and have passed the teaching fields, I'm just not staying to write the thesis.
As I said, doesn't mean much in Europe, due to the systems being different, but in the States I would be qualified to teach community college etc. But as a Brit, I neither have the visa to do so, or the impetus to stay this side of the pond!

Impetus ? Surely that is what you need to move ? Inertia is what makes you stay !
