|
|
Hi, I currently reside in Japan and will be applying to teach at an English school. I've noticed that a lot of schools want pictures of you when applying. Can I just give them a headshot of myself? Or do I include a picture of me teaching kids? I'm not sure what they want. Can I smile in the picture or is this a photo that they require for immigration? I would appreciate any advice anyone can give. Thanks.

The picture required is usually a passport style photograph.
You might however want to smile to present yourself in your best light. I know that you are not allowed to smile for a passport picture.
Your picture is likely to be displayed for all to see around the school you are based. |

A few more details.
Professional attire, no Hawaiian shirts.
Neutral background, not a cutout from your latest barbecue or bar hop where we can see your buddies in the background or one of their arms on your shoulder.
Head and shoulders will suffice. A few rare places also ask for a whole body photo. Weird, but I'd advise inserting that separately.
Look neat. Remove all piercings other than earrings.
A pleasant smile is all right. Ronald McDonald poses are for elementary school kids and parties. |
