I am currently fulfilling a year long contract with a language institute. I will walk away with a good recommendation added to my TEFL certificate. I want to move to Chile in July. Shocked I am wondering if anyone can give me an idea of the standard of living, maybe a recommendation or two for good reputable schools in a metropolitan area, and any personal sentiments on teaching there. If anyone has any questions on CR I would be happy to help. Thanks, Ben

July is the right time to be coming to Chile. There is a great deal of work. There are some reputable schools. If you want the easy way out, work through a textbook in order to teach, Berlitz is the way to go. They don't care about your teaching background or skills. Just follow the 100 year old method and get paid. If you want something more challanging where you are the driver for quality teaching, then you have to think about other places. There are a great deal of language schools in Chile. Stay away from the small schools that probably have cash flow issues (Curtis, Polyglot, Alief, Competent, Impact....). Never go to Sam Marsalli. They treat teachers like **** If you want to work for a big machine, thousands of students and 100+ teachers, then go to:Chileno Norteamericano, Chileno Britanico, Tronwell, Berlitz .... These places tend to be very concerned about selling. If you want a smaller school without cash flow issues where quality does play a role and teachers are treated well then I would try Comunicorp and Fischer.
