I taught at TPR Zhuhai from Feb. 2001 to Sept. 2003, and, for the most part, I was quite satisfied with the situation there. TPR is a private English school whose main focus is teaching children. They are in, I believe, their 12th or 13th consecutive year of operation, and are, or at least were, considered the premier school of that type in Zhuhai
Although, like all schools of this type in China, they are not perfect, you could do one heck of a lot worse in Zhuhai. I have written extensively about TPR on this forum. If you search here on TPR, or on my name, you might get directed to my previous posts.
All in all, I thought it was a pretty good place to work, and I'd go back there again if the opportunity presented itself. |

the adult/kids schools there are not very good for teachers. If you are new to China stay with a school not a training center. The fountain school has a woman owner that thinks she is god if you bow and treat her like a god its ok. |

Compared with Mongolia, the climate here in Guangdong is more hospitable. As concerns the TPR School in Zhuhai, what I have heard is that the apartments for teachers are over the school- very Chinese style! Those of us who have lived in the more indepent, social and foreigner- dense Zhuhai are unaccustomed to these kinds of arrangements. Someone who is more used to a Chinese style of business might be satisfied with these arrangements. Anyway Zhongshan has lots of factories- good business. I was disappointed that three of my Chinese friends had to move there for work-it makes visiting inconvenient. An enterprising person might see the area as a good place to find a school to work for and maybe pick up some private students. If there are fewer teachers there, you may be a prized commodity. Just thinking out loud here. |
