A civilised attitude to train (all public transport) fares and services. I mean contrast it to the gangs of jackbooted ticket inspectors that roam the Melbourne public transport system (sometimes undercover) looking to charge someone with a 200 buck fine for some minor infraction (not validating a ticket, ticket has expired) here the worst you get is asked politely to pay the fare at the next possible convienience.

you guys are awesome, I've been following these threads, and obviously gaijains in Japan are loving it and reading about all this stuff is making it more and more obvious that going to Japan is the right choice for a year or two. Thanks again guys! Laughing

The one thing unmentioned so far that really stood out to me is yakiniku. Kobe beef is heaven....

Yeah, yakiniku's Korean, but I hear (though don't know from personal experience) that it's done differently here somehow. Also, of course Kobe beef is Japanese.
