Where is a good place to look for jobs in the East...places like Hualien???

I k now about tealit, but that seems to serve mainly Taipei...are there any good places to look? Should I just go out there and campus the city? Would love any feedback, especially from someone out that way. Thanks!

I was living in Hualien last year. I was teaching at one of the universities there. From what I heard, there is a lot of competition for jobs at the language schools in Hualien. Not enough work to go around. If you have an M.A. or Ph.D. you might try for a university job...

I would either go there and visit schools, if that is not possible contact recruiters or www.buxiban.com might have schools listed in that area.

timmyjames,

I'm in Hualien. Luckily I work at a uni, because there just isn't enough other work for all the foreigners that want to come to and live in Hualien. My office mate (who is Taiwanese) has been trying to help her husband (who is foreign) find a job in Hualien for a year now, and he can't find more than 4 hours at 3 bushibans. I have another friend who has owned her own bushiban here for a number of years, and can't get enough students at her own place due to the every growing fierceness of bushiban competition, so she also works as a teacher a few hours here and there at some of the other bushibans. Right now she can't pay her rent and is trying to figure out what to do. Unless you just happen to be standing there when one foreign teacher walks out the door, it's pretty near impossible, as far as I can tell.

I say make a few trips down and do the rounds asking, but I honestly don't think you'll be able to make ends meet. A lot of the foreign teachers that have spots just aren't moving anytime soon, as they've got roots down, if you know what I mean.

Work on the East coast of Taiwan is hard to come buy simply becasue people tend to stay longer there and is much less demand for English teachers.

Aristotle is a non-native speaker of English, right? This sentence is evidence.
