You want to upgrade your ram...

...on a laptop?

First of all, you can't really personally do this unless your computer skills are highly inclined.

You'll have to send it in and have the manufacturer re-install additional ram.

If you had a desktop tower then we could work your problem out with simple instructions...but not on a laptop, sorry.

Since every laptop is different (there really is no industry standard like there is for desktops) it's nearly impossible to say unless you run into someone who has done so with a similar model.... Sometimes the mnfctr. gives you this info in the owner's manual but sometimes not. If not, it may be difficult.

Another thing to keep in mind is, even if you can get to the ram, does the laptop take a standard kind of RAM or will you be forced to special-order from the company? That is also common.

I don't think you'll have to send your laptop back to the mnfctr. like synne suggests, but if you can't find the DIY instructions in the owner's manual, it probably means they don't want you to do it -- but if you take it in to a local denki shop that has a computer repair/upgrade corner (many Yamada Denki and Kojima have this) then they should be able to do it without a problem.

Crack it open yourself and you void the warranty. Pooh-pooh that if you will, but *beep* happens. My friend had his under a 3 year warranty, and one month before it expired, the mother board fried and he needed a new battery. Both were serious expenses, but the warranty covered practically everything.

Take it back where you bought it and have a professional do it.
