It is easy to save money. I doubt many people need to read threads on it.

However, do you really want to stay at home almost every night making spaghetti? This is the real question. And it should be a serious consideration for those thinking of teaching in Japan.

Spent 800 yen on a ingredients then cook up a big vat of curry that`ll last you about three days. Then spend the other four eating out.

Personally, I`m not convinced about Tokyo being so expensive. Its certainly not more expensive than London. Rent I do concede, is high. But convenience store beer costs the same as anywhere else, chain restaurants cost the same. I went to a little izakaya down the road a couple of weeks ago and I dropped almost 5000 on two beers and a couple of bowls of rice topped with some kind of gunk. I`ll be sticking to Dennys, Gusto and Izakayas with picture menus in future.

For christ sakes dont SIT DOWN ANYWHERE... Theres this bs thing called sit down tax... its outrageous. Ive been to places where they want in upwards of 10 bucks per hour JUST TO SIT DOWN and somehow they manage to forget to tell you about that when you walk in.

Simon Saxoncourt recruiter, does your company enroll teachers in the Japanese medical insurance system as legally required? Looking at your site, it's clear that you don't.

Does Saxoncourt properly insure you, but not it's teachers?

How do you sleep at night?
