Thanks for that.... But unfortunately there are two major problems with that plan in the newspaper... (The Daily Yomiuri runs those ads too)....

One, it does not excempt you from paying into the national healthcare system...

Two, I checked out the company and they are AWFUL! They essentially don't cover you for ANY kind of accident (eg. car accident) whether it was your fault or not.... Nor does it include any other benefits that you would expect from a normal insurance plan...

Jim, you bring up a very good point which I think is often think is overlooked here in Japan. At first look you think Japan is great by paying between 6-8% in income tax, however, there are so many taxes that follow and do not come out of your pay.

Thanks for giving us some numbers and percentages. It makes it easy to see that Japanese taxes are comparable to any other place.
