|
|
Hi All,
Harking back to the "apostille or no?" saga quite some time ago on this board, here's something interesting I got from the Mexican Embassy here in Australia...
"The company willing to hire you will have to submit either original or certified copies of your documents, with the Apostille.
Consular Section
Embassy of Mexico in Australia "
So there you go. What a surprise I shall have if it turns out to be something *completely different* when I get to Mexico!

Lets put it this way, if you get the apostille and you dont need it -- no loss. If you come to Mexico w/o it and need it, it makes the already excruciatingly slow bureaucratic wheels go that much slower... |

Tell me about it! I hadn't realized just how "Mexicanized" I'd become until I was back in the USA during summer vacation after having lived in Mexico for 4 or 5 years. I was staying at my cousin's house, and I had a list of things I needed to get done: go to the bank, renew my drivers license, get an international drivers license, talk with my tax-sheltered annuity rep, pick up some things at the supermarket, etc. I set off from my cousin's house at a little before 8:00 a.m. with the idea that I'd get as many things on my list taken care of as I could before meeting her at 6:00 p.m., so we could go out to eat. Here in Mexico, almost any one of the things on my list would've taken hours to do, and the entire list would've taken most of a week if not longer. By 11:00 a.m. I'd finished everything on my list! |

hee hee!!
I know I'm tired, and have been moving/selling/throwing away almost all of my worldly goods, so forgive this silly question..
Do I have to get a copy/apostille/notarise/blessed by the Pope of my birth certificate and/or passport?
Thanks!

I don't know how it works in Oz, but for those of us from the USA, an original (not necessarily one and only, just original as opposed to a photocopy) of one's birth certificate usually works. A passport is official in itself. It doesn't need to be apostiled (apostilized? apostillated?) However, be prepared to make lots of unofficial photocopies of it once you're in Mexico. Of course, if you can get el papa's (not to be confused with la papa) blessing on something, I'd say to go for it! |

I've heard the Pope hasn't blessed birth certificates since the Leonard Binks fiasco of '79. Cat fight.
But let's keep this on the down low.

I'm part Irish, so I think I'm genetically predisposed to having an intense love for las papas...

Unless you plan on getting married, of getting a government housing plan house, you won't have need for a birthcertificate.
You will need to get a Mexican notary to make a notarized copy of your passprt for your FM3 visa, but that obviously will be done here. |

Hey y'all, I arrive in GDL tomorrw and have already made a blunder. I've got almost everything in order except my diploma. I've got my passport and my birth certificate but my diploma, the original, is not authenticated in any way.
So my question is, for work purposes in Mexico, what is standard procedure? Do I need an authenticated duplicate of my diploma? Can I bring the original diploma unauthenticated? It's too late for me to do anything now as I arrive tomorrw, but I'll need to do it over the phone and through mail once I'm in GDL.
Any info would be greatly appreciated, thanks.

Seriously Dog,
It'd help if I knew where you originated from. I'm sorry but I've not been paying enough attention
I went to the British Council in D.F. an got my degree notarized. Not the whole deal, but a step in the right direction.

Oh, yeah... I'm from Los Estados Unidos.
I'm just going to end up bringing down my degree. Plus I contacted my university and they're sending me a certificate and a letter stating that I indeed graduated from there. But I know that I'm going to be doing a lot of paperwork in Mexico. |

Paperwork makes the world go round. But, try going to the British Council or the US embassy when you arrive, maybe they can help you. |
