O.K. I've asked something of this nature before, but now I have another scenario and need some feedback on the issue.
So here's the deal: I'm flying to Thailand in May to travel and do some volunteer work for a couple of months. Then I fly over to Taipei where the plan is to get a job. I'll have a visitor's visa and a ticket that says my return flight is two months later. If I get a one-year contract, I will throw away the return portion of my ticket and purchase another ticket when I decide to return home. Is this a plausable plan and am I on the right track or should I opt for a better plan? suggestions?? |

Maybe you could do a multiple-destination ticket instead, starting from wherever you are now, then to Thailand, and then to Taiwan. There wouldn't be a return flight, so you wouldn't lose it, but you would have to purchase a return ticket eventually.
Or shop around and see if you can get an open-ended ticket that will allow you change the return date.
