Tonight:
GREEK NIGHT! Getting together with my Cypriot friends and having Ouzo, Greek wine, and many Greek treats: baklava, dolomades, tzatziki, etc... and if all goes well, someone will bring some Metaxxa! OPA!!!
Saturday: Do nothing. Rehearse piano and go to church in the evening.
Sunday: Go to Tokyo to open a new bank account with Shinsei (all in ENGLISH! YAY!!!!) and later on, heading to a FARK party! (In case anyone one Dave's is also a Farker). |

A famous Greek brandy. Comes in a really pretty, painted bottle. |

We just scooted up the Q/hanami for tomorrow evening, might be hard to see the blossoms from the garden if it's raining Sunday.
Whereabouts are you all headed SE, nice park somewhere's? |

JIM: PLEASE, I am desperate - Where do I find Greek in Japan?!? I've scoured Tokyo with no success. No Japanese person I have ever met has tried Greek food before, not even a Gyro. I want Dolmades in a very bad way!!
What I'm looking forward to this weekend: Spending quiet nights at home with my fiance, who occasionally runs to the bathroom to throw-up from morning-sickness. |

Shotgun wedding in order, eh Nismo? Didn't waste any time, did you? If I remember correctly, didn't you just graduate from UCSB?
Anyhows, congratulations to you and the little lady.
How far along is she? |

Jeez, yer kidding, right? You can't find Greek in Tokyo? The Aegean only runs a HUGE ad in the Daily Yomiuri like every day!
It's expensive, but well worth it! The dolomades are excellent! It's also the only Green restaurant in Japan owned by an actual Greek...
The Aegean
Oriental Bldg B1 3-18-3 Shibuya
Tel. 03-3407-1783
It's very close to Shibuya Station. Pick up any copy of the Daily Yomiuri (the ad was on pg. 6 in today's paper) and there is a map too. It's a small restaurant so it's well advised to call for a reservation. Be prepared to drop a little over 2,000 yen for a dish though...
Good luck! I can't wait to go back there. It was delicious!
On another note, we just disbanded our Greek evening. To eat we had: tzataiki, herb potatoes fried in olive oil, oregano roast chicken, some lasagna-like pasta dish, Greek meatballs, stuffed eggplants with olives feta cheese and tomatoes, baklava. To drink we had: 5 Kings Brandy, Ouzo, Greek white wine, Commandaria, Greek coffee... To listen to we had: lots of Greek music (both modern and traditional).
Mmmmmmmmmm.. Greece! |

Tonight: Salsa at my usual spot.
Saturday: Volunteer at my agency. Possibly movie night afterwards followed by dinner.
Update: Didn't volunteer as I wasn't feeling well earlier on today. Saw 'Basic Instinct 2' and came home. Am considering calling my friend to go out for Greek food tomorrow night. Getting a craving for that after reading this thread .
Sunday: Not sure at the moment.
Update: Dinner at a Greek restaurant. Ordered Lamb Souvlaki and Dolmades. We had a very interesting end to our evening. Just when we were about to leave, this guy backed up in his pickup truck and smashed right through one of the glass partitions in the patio area. He came out to check the damage, got back in and took off. Both my friend and I witnessed this and I gave one of the waiters his plate number which was corroborated by another witness in the parking lot. Thing is, we were so shocked we weren't sure whether we were going to say anything or not. However, I'm glad I did in the end. Wonder how much damage he caused?
I also love Greek food, esp. dolmades (with ground beef and rice only; don't like the ones that are just stuffed with rice), baklava, beef and lamb souvlaki with lots of tzatziki sauce, quail and Greek salad (love feta cheese). I'm hungry just thinking about it. Good to know that 'The Aegean' is owned by an actual Greek person. Now I just have to make sure I get placed in Tokyo.

Good morning Jim. Did you all break any plates? Have you ever been to a place in Greece where they do this? It's wild! |

None of my business, but I hope you realise the cost of raising children in this country and its likely your wife wont work when she has kids. I have two and have learnt the hard way. Better get cracking on that Masters degree if I were you. |
