Living in Chiba close to Tokyo, I was wandering what the nicest place was in Tokyo to see cherry blossom.

I realise there are likely to be many places.

Which do you recommend as I would like to take many photos ?

ps. I live on the kesei line.. |

Ueno park? Emprors Palace? Yoyogi Park? I always loved going to Shinjuku gyoen most of all. Mother Bokujo in Chiba is a good place for you I think.

If you can make time go down to Nara, there's a mountain covered in cherry trees that goes completely pin. Nara koen is absolutely beautiful also. A great weekend away for all the family!

				| The Keisei line ends at Ueno. The previous poster mentioned Ueno Park- a good choice. |

If you've got a few hundred yen to spare go to Shinjuku gyoen. It's the nicest park in Tokyo IMO. Not as crowded as Ueno, no homeless guys (not that I really mind them actually...) and a lot less garbage. Since they charge a small entrance fee they keep it cleaner.

Last year I went to Yoyogi park -- it was aweful, but only because there were huge duststorms that kept disturbing everything (the ground was really dry and it was a really windy day). We couldn't even drink our beer without getting dust in it, and I think most of the blossoms actually got blown off the trees! Japanese friends there described it as "the worst o-hanami ever"... |

				| Also, if you've got a girlfriend you might check out the area around kudansita (overlooking part of the moat of the emperor's compound) for a more romantic ohanami experience. Lots of lovers walking around there; and it's a really beautiful view. |
