Hey,
I'm from the UK and am looking at getting insurance to boost the cover I'll get on the National Health in Taiwan, mainly for things like repatriation.
Anyone got any hot tips on companies that offer long stay/ annual insurance and that don't cost a total fortune?
Cheers

Hi,
I am also from the UK. You should get travel insurance for the first 2 months to cover you while you get your documents processed and get your helath insurance card. Don't get a year as it is a waste of money. If you run into any major health problems here the doctors are really good and the quality of service is great. Once you have the national health insurance it doesn't cost hardly anything to see a doctor or dentist etc. Even without it will cost you about a tenner to see a doctor including the medication.
If you have any serious accidents and major illnesses that require a serious level of hospitalisation then a travel insurance policy will most likely cover repatriation. Let's face it though, if you are seriously hurt the most dangerous thing to do is to move you to another country.
I went with STA travel. They provide a backpacker policy for any level you need. It's still not cheap but better than most. I think it is more suited to the independent traveller than the likes of the post office who offer services to people visiting Tenerife.
PM me if you want any more advice or info.
