Hi,
What are the standard requirements for working for the British Council teaching English?
Does each branch have its own criteria?
The website for the British Council doesn't seem to be very helpful. |

Thanks Paul, do you have a link? I don't know it. I think I looked at the wrong place. Where can you study CELTA/Trinity? |

http://www.britishcouncil.org/teacherrecruitment-careers-minimum-requirements.htm
there you go, above
Working for the british council/International House is the HARDEST places to work for. Your average private school in Poland ect only ask for TEFL cert, CELTA/TRINITY or any other UK university tefl CERT or 4 week TEFL cert that has 120 hours or more with 6 hours teaching practice plus degree and EU passport. plus native speaker.
As for getting a CELTA/TRINITY, go to CACTUS, just type CACTUSTEFL in the search bar and it will come up one way or another.
Why British Council anyway? Your have a easier time going for a average private school anywhere in the world, because its like applying for university, cambridge want THE EBST where as a NORMAL school want the average at best ect.
Im sure you understand me
anyway ask again if theres more info you want
happy to help.
good luck. |

Thanks Paul Manser. WOW! looks like the place is a bit out of my league
I thought it might be a good place to work, me being from Blighty and all. But I will keep looking.

International House elite? I beg to differ.
Better than many other schools? Yes. Elite? No.
They are not even amongst the very best schools in the UK, let alone on a world scale. Perhaps Warwick would provide a better comparison than Oxford or Cambridge. Good in many areas, outstanding in a few, but not, on the whole, elite. |
