Hi,
I want to go to Portugal to find a great teaching job with a private school, and was told that everything will be closed if I arrive in July or August.
I know the school year starts in September, so when is the best time o knock on doors when most employers are looking for teachers?
Thanks for all your help in advance. |

Lippy, I'd scour the web if I was you.
I can't see the point in actually going there to look for a job, unless you want a vacation there at the same time. |

Hi, I don't think there's much work going in the summer because most of the school's employ their long-term teachers over the summer, and there's much less work going around at that time (in my school anyway) |

Hi, sorry just read your post properly (have just got in from work, sorry!)
The main schools are: British Council (hard to get in, they're not offering contracts at the moment) International House (www.ihworld.com) and Cambridge School, they advertise in the guardian (www.guardian.co.uk)
Everything won't be closed if you come here in July and August, but they won't be hiring then as they tend to start looking for people around March/April. So I think looking on their websites might be best bet.
Good luck |
