canuck: why is YOUR life so serious? Does everything have to be on-topic? I appreciate Sweetsee's "random questions" -- I ask them myself too on occasion.

Personally, I'd be happy seeing a "Japan Off-Topic" forum just like there's a "China Off-Topic" forum on Dave's. But until that happens, I think it's nice (and friendly) to talk about things OTHER than: visas, lesson plans, labour woes, how-to-live-in-Japan, and NOVA vs. AEON vs. Interac vs. Bob's English Emporium....

SO until that happens, I think Sweetsee is being friendly is all.. Sorry you don't see it the same way.... Crying or Very sad

Thank you very much Jim. It amazes me the way some people are on this board: people who say nothing when you compliment them or thank them or say something nice to them. What especially grates on me is the posters who never start a thread but always pick apart everything others say. I will never stop being friendly. Thanks again Jim.

Canuck... you have to be one of the biggest arseholes on this board. It's very rare that you post anything that does not put someone down in some way or another.

If you consider something to not be worth your time why do you feel its necessary to reply to the post? Other than to tell the poster that you feel they are wasting your time? Doesnt make much sense does it? It makes me to wonder who really has too much free time and who is wasting space on this board.

Is it the person who posts "random" questions or is it the person who feels like he has to respond to them and attack the poster in some way. You sir are one of the most arrogant people I have ever met and hell all I have to go on are your posts. I hate to think what I might think of you if I ever met you.

I once considered a poll here but decided that it would probably get pulled.

Who is the least helpful and most obnoxious poster in the Japan forum? I have a sneaky feeling that you would be ranked among the top 3. Actually..in all the months I have been coming to Daves you are really the only one who stands out in my mind. Why is that so?

Now Very Happy in response to Sweetsee

I like my station. It is quite new and very well maintained. The bathrooms are absolutely spotless! It has a large sundeck where various groups gather all year round. It has small little live music jams on particular weekends and is a nice meeting spot of positive activists. One of my favourites is a group of old ladies who bring strays to the station and try to get them adopted/accept donations. I picked up my cat there for only the cost of it's vaccinations. A great deal when you see them selling American shorthairs in the petshops for 150,000 yen! Very Happy

Another thing I love is running into the guys who work at the Izakayas I often go to. I swear I've saved at least a couple hundred dollars on all the free drink/discount coupons I get. Very Happy

Quick! before he comes, can someone proof-read/check my formatting/dot all my i's before canuck questions my existence and right to post on this board?

Well said, that's putting him in his place, my sentiments exactly.
Reason I started this thread was because I started taking the train again and while standing on the platform looking out over our new station (just moved) one morning, I found ours to be comparitively nice. Nothing like yours though Yawarakaijin. I wish ours had more character; music, people hanging about, seeing people one knows.
As for the vibe here, I for one am determined to help improve it. I enjoy this board and in fact, were it not for posting here I would have no e-mail. Sad but true. Thanks to those of you who share my feelings.

Have a great friday afternoon,
s

There's an izakaya across the street from my train station...it's very convenient and cheap.

This is coming from a degree-less teaching in Japan lottery winner that snuck through immigration and tells people that you too can "get in" teaching in Japan without a degree, who doesn't know how to spell the word, "loser" and insists on "looser" and offers nothing of quality to this forum.

She took a swipe at me, and I took one back. It's unfortunate that I'm more direct and willing to say what so many others are thinking.

If you're so offended, it's because I really hit a chord way back when and probably showed you how stupid you looked. I hate misinformation, and there is a lot you spout or other newbies have. It's nice to set the record straight. Actually, there are lots out there that do, like PaulH, Glenski etc. but sometimes it's nice to put my 2 yen in there. As for free time, yes, I have many, many paid holidays. I don't spend that much time of this forum, probably because of my blinding fast typing speed. Hunt and peck away or learn to type faster.
