good question.
I've been accosted by rent-a-cops when skating down town Nagoya (ironically near the international centre) who told me it was dangerous etc and so I got off. TO make sure I didn't ride again, one followed me for two blocks.
Then at the next block (nagoya station) there was a bunch of kids doing rail slides and landing on a busy pavement... they remained unmolested and unbusted for most of the afternoon.
I wasn't even doing tricks, just on my way from the library to the skate park (which is a strong word if you've ever seen the rather anaemic looking ramp and a half under the motor way in Osu...) |

But the point is, that apart from that occasion, the real police have never given me more than a curious look.
I never skate in crowded areas and keep my tricks (such as they are ) in parks and in my booney neighbourhood. In the city it's carving hills and commuting only really. |

Reason I ask is the principal at our school chewed me out again and says it is "dame". Where or how can I find the word of the law, short of asking the filth at the koban? |

Its probably because kids are not allowed to bring skateboards or ride scooters and if they see a teacher do it it looks contradictory. Its like teachers smoking but kids are not allowed to.
You are a teacher at the school and it sets a bad example, though its not illegal. Its simply a school regulation.
PS you can ride bicycles and motorised kickboards on the footpath, inline and roller skates. I see no law against skateboards as such. |

No Paul, there probably is no law but everyone will tell you that there is. Just thought since they are firing me, who cares. I will suck it up though and carry my board to school from the station, which is a bit like walking alongside your car. |

If they are going to fire you make sure you get the one months severance pay or one months notice and make their life miserable by telling students what anal pric-ks they are being.
I though you had another year there or are you talking about non-renewal?
To them its not a firing, its your contract expiring. |

Yeah, yeah it's a non-renewal. Pretty funny because with my club activities they have got me scheduled without a day off for most of this month. Even so, I will maintain a professional attitude and do the best job I can. Karma baby, goes around comes around. |

That's exactly what I was thinking. |

Yes. You have only my life to see the proof of it.
