I agree with you machine. Sorry for the snap. I agree, I'd rather earn half the salary but enjoy my job/life. Anyway you earn triple/double the local polish salary so your basically living it up to royalty standard near enough. Earning 25 k pounds here is all well but look at the prices, boredom ect.

Poland cheap as heaven, different culture ect much more to offer.

About the CELTA debate. By all means grab a bat and whack it around my head when it comes to which is better. No doubt CELTA wins, but I know the AVERAGE private school will take a native with a TEFL cert from Uk university/COT ect with degree, EU passport, maybe 2 months experience whacked on top too.

No doubt in my kind that CELTA IS needed in IH, western europe, better paid jobs, where China nop TEFL is looked upon although your going to have a TEFL cert none the less. I'm just looking forward to university, getting 3 year degree out the way ect.

26th May is my date to flying out to Prague, still yet to complete the
pre-course task for the task and bring with me. sigh roughly 7 weeks to go. Then Poland for 8 weeks, then uni.

I'll certainly post back on here when I finish my course

Peace to all

Eugeniusz,
Just a thought... If you have some relatives in Poland, why don't you go over there for a couple of months, scout the scene and get the feel for the place. It might give you some peace of mind and help you decide if you really want to go for it full time.

Speaking of visiting Poland, I didnt like Warsaw much. Looked depressing.

I will say that poles were VERY open and friendly, maybe too friendly.
If someone is too ncie over here in the UK its usually
*what are you after?*

FYI: Poland isn't THAT cheap. I have brought home over 4000zl in cash some months and even if I live better than the average Pole, I certainly don't live like "royalty".

Beer, rent, and milk bars are cheap... true.
Utilities, clothing, travel, and household items (i.e. towels, dishes, etc..), however, are the simmilar to Western European prices.

beer/food/drink/rent, the main survival stuff is cheap.

Example,

Out of Warsaw in Torun I had for dinner ; chips, rump steak covered with mushroom sauce salad, onion rings and a nice pint of strongbow for
25 zloty, not bad eh.

besides food/drink/rent and dont forget transport in Poland, local train is also quite cheap. I mean I got a train 2nd class from warsaw to Torun for about 35 zloty, thats like say 8 quid top whack nearly (one way). Didnt go 1st class, tight with every zloty.

Paul, yet again you're trying to argue with people who actually live the life you want to live. We are here. We are teachers. We know more about living and teaching in Poland than you do. Please don't tell us about it all.

I'm a native speaker of English, from Australia, with Polish citizenship, and I don't have any teaching qualifications other than about 3 or 4 years of experience in various places both in PL and AU.

So, see how you go. Wink
