I disagree. Much of my late night writing does not consist of glaring mistakes.
There again much does! |

Maybe not, but it does seem to lead to people submitting the same posts three times in a row. |

Hi
I have a 4 week TESOL cert which is 150 hours long with 6 hours of teaching practice. The course is accred by the College Of Teachers. Do you recognise/ accept this qualification? The course was with INTESOL International, in prague.
Regards
Paul Manser, UK |
Paul, compare what you wrote to what my FCE students knocked up in 25mins before class this morning (as modified to your qualifications):
Dear Sir or Madam,
I am writing to enquire as to whether you would consider me qualified for a teaching position at your school. My current qualification is comprised of 150 hours of theory and 6 hours of practical teaching, accredited by the College of Teachers and undertaken at INTESOL International, located in Prague. Is this satisfactory to apply for employment at your establishment?
I look forward to your prompt reply,
Yours faithfully,
And don't blame late nights - this was at 8am this morning... |

| The debate about that is over. |
Hi Paul,
Again you've made your choice and that's cool. We're just trying to give out the best advice we can for those who have the time and money to try to make the most out of their opportunities in Poland.
(BTW, for anyone else reading this I've heard that there's a cheaper CELTA course in Lviv/Lvov.)
But yes, you will find something with your passport and a degree.
There are teachers in Poland without degrees and teachers in Poland who are in the country illegally from other smaller English speaking countries with thick regional accents who have found work. Because of your experience, your certification, and your passport your odds are even better.
So as you said, I think we can close the lid on this one.
But I wouldn't recommend posting email that someone else wrote to you without their permission. I'd edit that if I were you. It's bad enough when people post other people's PMs on boards, which is something I think moderators should remove their members for, but to receive an email from someone concerning a professional matter and then going public with it is just looking for trouble.
Good times and good luck.

Actually, I think you're right. I'm just not used to stillnosheep telling jokes. There's a first time for everything.

Grrrrmachine, I typed up my shabby (khrst ) email in under 50 seconds, as opposed to 25 minutes. Typed at 3.50AM. Wasn't a job application. It was a question regarding TESOL qualifications.
I think this thread on CELTA/TRINITY has expired.
By the way greg I emailed a further 5 polish schools, from IH to English First. All 5 positive, as long as I have a degree basically to back it up, like any other TEFL qualification.
I have heard bad things about English First private language school.........on Russia forum.
I'd rather open up a new forum about your TEFL life experiences in Poland from beginning to present. |
