Hello all,
I have just completed a CELTA course in Edinburgh and will be spending summer in Ukraine doing a mixture of Russian courses in Odessa (OLSC) and volunteer work. Ultimately I plan to find work in Kiev or Odessa by september and am hoping I can benefit from being a qualified teacher available on the spot for interviews and contacts. I am about to contact IH Kiev and London school of English in Odessa directly and have read the posts already provided.
I was wondering if any teachers in Ukraine at the moment could offer some timely advice on which schools are better and worse. Specific info would be great.

I am also not completely sure about visa free entry for EU nationals (im British). I have read conflicting reports about this, It would be great to clear this one up. The official embassy site in Uk says yes other sites no. Ive read visa regulations were lifted in May 2005 but also that it returned to the previous system in sept 2005. The uncertainties over the new government only cloud the issue further for me. Anyway I will be finding this out shorty I really just need opinions and knowledge about current conditions. Any help will be appreciated

EU citizens absolutely, positively, do not need visas for stays of 90 days or less.

I do not think the recent elections are going to change anything. Foreign affairs, which I presume includes visa policies, are the responsibility of the President, who retains his position. Also the pro-Western parties (the President's and Timoshenko's) will have a majority in the new parliament.

I will warn you about one thing. According to the website of the Ukr embassy in London, EU citizens can get visas without any supporting documentation. However the consulate in Krakow is not aware of this, and will refuse to issue a visa without documentation.

I have some familiarity with LSE and IH Kiev and I don't think there's a lot of difference between them.

Oh and another thing I was considering applying for my late August Russian visa while in Odessa where I will be staying for 6-8 weeks. I plan to do this if there is no job offers for the coming academic year in Ukraine. I know there is a consulate in Odessa and a full embassy in Kiev. Anybody with any experience in visa applications and prices for Russian visas obtained in Ukraine either in Kiev or Odessa?

I have read your post and will try and help. I am planning to work in the Ukraine early next year but am looking at schools in Ternopil. However I do know a couple who are currently living there, if I find anything useful I'll let you know.
