North vs South. Do you think the Laps or the Inuits are laughing at all of us? We are the lazy southerners after all, aren't we?

It would be a lot more grim if it cost quarter of a million
for a shed in the northern equivalent of Hackney. Living
amongst burberry cap wearing, violent, stressed out morons
amongst all that pollution.

I think one stereotype should be traded for another. Cheers
mate!

One day, the good people of the south east will stop
with their class based prejudice based on nonsensical
stereotype.

I bet any money that the majority of morons on the jolly
boys outing to Krakow are middle class tossers from the south
east of England. Eight times more flights fly out of the airports in and
around the London area than Liverpool airport (no flights from Manchester
on the cheap carriers)

You all know this... we all know you leave the capital every
weekend and travel hundreds of miles for your jollies. Like
coming up the M1 and M6 to watch your beloved Manchester
United. One day Glaizer will relocate to Guilford but it's no
problem for you to spend your hard earned cash that you have
earnt on your barrow selling flowers, fruit and veg and jellied eels Razz
in the meantime.

And... more importantly... even with the low cost of the airfares
to Poland and the Czech republic, you still need more than a giro
to afford to go. Thus the people misbehaving and generally letting
our country down will be people with good jobs and have had the
benefit of a good education and my money will on the majority
of the prats being from our glorious capital.

We should never forget that the kind of accidental and undeserved wealth in the south, that allows them to buy hackett and burberry, and to live in the kind of place that has houses for miles on end but no pits or factories, was made by Northern labour. Nor should we forget that the economic problems in the North were, in large part, caused by southern 'floating voters' who thought 'Mrs T' was sweet.

Maybe time for a separatist movement , and let the buggers turn the south into one big Essex, with cheap flights to wherever they want to spoil next, and let the rest of us get on with it.

DAMN! We DO need to do something about this. That's why in the last 3 years the prices of Kamiennice have risen so high. In Torun now we're looking at about 2 to 3 Million PL for one... Sad

Why can't they go to Moscow and buy stuff instead of here... there's lots of 'chuligany' in Moscow and cheap chicks they can play with there. I know we need the money economically, but in the long run, I just can't stand it...

Torun's full of ugly, dull looking, moronic sounding Englishmen, from GOD KNOWS WHERE, this week! What's going on!? Next thing we'll be invaded by retirees from FLORIDA!!! *casts spells in every direction to ward off the evil tourists*

If you haven't been to the UK for a while, then you won't have
seen the steady stram of TV programmes of shows based
on buying property abroad.

'Place in the sun', 'buy your home abroad' etc seem to have
a surfeit of middle class SOUTHERNERS appearing on the box
with more cash than sense. Spain is too expensive, so now they
are going to eastern Europe. Bulgaria seems to be a favourite but
it looks like Poland is in for this invasion also.

You see them on the telly walking round nice properties for about
30 grand saying 'oooh I would like an extra room to make into
an office' sometimes you get updates of the imbeciles and it always
ends in tears. They don't know Bulgarian/Polish/Kazakh. Their
land cruiser got robbed in the first week and the local supermarket
has no pesto and rocket but sells only koblasaya and sauerkraut.
And they work out the locals aren't friendly because
they don't understand English!

Thats why the insurgents in Iraq are fighting the coalition tooth
and nail, because they foresee 30 years down the line, fat middle
aged couples from Essex walking around Fallujah, Baghdad
Tirkit, Al Quasaar etc buying up all the houses in the area converting
them into 'offices' and 'guesthouses'

I'm not against this totally by the way. In Argentina you can buy
a dam good property for about 30 grand so I might buy a property
myself but I'm more ready to adapt into Argentine culture than
some of these bozo's coming from England are ready to adapt
to Polish life and culture.

And before you start I have yet to see a programme featuring
someone from Wigan traipsing round Provoence trying to convert
a disused 17th century stable into a 4 star guest house.

A holiday home to us is still a caravan in Rhyl Very Happy

Actually I HAVE seen these shows, both here in Poland and back in Australia, and they are complete morons as we know... Middle class w*nk*rs. [All my Polish friends love that word btw.]

The trouble is, I don't like them. I know Brits here who refuse to learn the local language, even the basics, and they have the nerve to teach English here! Sorry, but it's arrogant. Then again I know other's who are adapted in very many ways, and try... and they succeed in enjoying it here.

What can you do except try to re-educate the lazy sods. Even then, when you have YARDS of experience, there are those who think that they know EVERYTHING about the place after being here literally only minutes... know what I mean...

Let 'em drown, I say... Wink

carlos-england i liked your response, but don't fall into that trap that all cockney w#nk#rs support manchester united, they have all turned their attentions over to Chelsea now! Manchester is 75% red and anyone who tells you otherwise is not from manchester or lives within a mile radius of the old maine road!
For all the southern tossers that do go abroad, and yes the go in droves, you have to think what the landlords and restaurant owners are thinking when 12-20 come in for a few beers.....rubbing their hands together, christmas and new year have just rolled into one! Just think of spain, for all they hate the english tourists, more than a million step off the plane to spend their money and massively fund the economy.

Is there any way to put a stop to this?

I think its only ever going to be stopped if the locals want to stop it and as long as this brings in more money and there's not too much trouble, no one appears that bothered. Having said that, "The World Intercourse Championships" were stopped by Mr Kaczynski a while back but stag nights don't seem to constitute the same moral outrage...

I lived in Krakow from Oct to Feb this year and went to the Police when my bike got nicked. When I said I was from Belfast the translator told me he'd translated for a group of young drunken Irish who'd been accused of "trying to rape a minor", after they were out on a boozy prowl around the rynek and called some girl a tart...what actually happened (this police man told me who is half Italian, half Polish) was the girl's father started a fight with them after the comment and so made up the story when the police arrived.

More seriously, this is just the thin end of the wedge of the sex industry in Poland. When you have hookers lining roads at lunchtime near Gdansk from Russia, thumbing for sex and hookers from Belarus advertising their services on every car windscreen in central Warsaw, you realise this is a big problem. I'm not sure how you even begin to tackle it but certainly not buying into the thin end of it would be one way. How about
an undercover report at one of these stag do's and then threaten to name and shame?

I suppose that's why someone once wrote, "You can never go back home."

Our beloved Krakow will never be the same.

I heard of someone flying in the from the UK and after an hour in Krakow he fell in love with the place and bought a flat at 9000zl a square meter that same day.

What can I say?

I admit jealous, but more than that I hope it doesn't change too much.

I don't think a country high in morality is going down to let this stand for very long. To give an example, I understand that kids left the clubs to attend mass when the Pope John Paul died.

Notify a local Catholic church in the area about the activity and let the public decide. They will most likely put a stop to this. Poland is a highly practicing Catholic nation. I doubt that a nation is willing to loose its highest commodity, in this case high morality, to be tarnished by an idiot outsider from another nation, especially where the Pope spent a lot of time.
