Quote:
Where exactly do you live?

Metallica said it best

and the road becomes my bride
I have stripped of all but pride
So in her I do confide
And she keeps me satisfied
Gives me all I need

and with dust in throat I crave
Only knowledge will I save
To the game you stay a slave
Rover wanderer
Nomad vagabond
Call me what you will

But Ill take my time anywhere
Free to speak my mind anywhere
And Ill redefine anywhere
Anywhere I may roam
Where I lay my head is home

and the earth becomes my throne
I adapt to the unknown
Under wandering stars Ive grown
By myself but not alone
I ask no one

and my ties are severed clean
The less I have the more I gain
Off the beaten path I reign
Rover wanderer
Nomad vagabond
Call me what you will

But Ill take my time anywhere
Im free to speak my mind anywhere
And Ill never mind anywhere
Anywhere I may roam
Where I lay my head is home

But Ill take my time anywhere
Free to speak my mind
And Ill take my find anywhere
Anywhere I may roam
Where I lay my head is home

Carved upon my stone
My body lie, but still I roam
Wherever I may roam

Any questions? Mr. Green

Travellers cheques you can get from the post office, and i think they issue them free of charge too. Don't worry you can pretty much cash them at any Bank or Foreign exchange in Thailand.

As for banks, i would highly recommend the Bank of Bangkok, have always been excellent.

Which part of Edinburgh are you from? I'm from Edinburgh too and am leaving for Thailand next week. Escaping the infamous Edinburgh summer Laughing

One thing about banks in Thailand.... there are certain currencies which are under-appreciated here.
I came to Thailand straight from Korea. While most of the money I had with me was in traveler's checks (in US dollars), about 1.5 thousand dollars (1.5 million won) was in Korean Won.
Before I even came to Thailand, I exchanged 1 million Won for 37 thousand baht at the airport on the Korean side. When I came to Thailand, I went to Bangkok bank to open an account. While the traveler's checks converted to local currency without any probs, the rate for Won seemed very odd. They wanted to convert 1.5 million Won into 47 thousand baht... whereas under the international rate, it should have been converted into 60 thousand baht.
Even now, I still have 1.5 million Won since I chose not to exchange it under such an unfair rate.
This was thebank of Bangkok btw.... not some shady currency exchange kiosk.
So while the US currency seems to have a normal exchange rate, it may be a mistake to bring a currency of any other kind. Keep that in mind.
