I'd like to highly recommend employment at BLCU. The salary is low (3,000/month) so I had to get some part-time jobs on the side, but the campus is beautiful, there are lots of foreigners (so you don't get stared at as much and there are more foreign restaurants), and the International Cooperation and Exchange Department is stellar! They really try to make sure you're comfortable. The accomodation is relatively small (60sqm), but Western standard. I think because of the low salary, they wind up with some --- well, unspectacular --- teachers. Beijing's cost of living can be high. Another problem is Beijing's weather. It's so freaking polluted my lungs seized up. The summers are ridiculously hot and the winters are arctic. Oh, and there's the occasional duststorm. But my experience as a whole was fantastic. In fact, it spoiled me. Now I'm at a crappy college in Qingdao that treats teachers like manure. Manure that can be replaced. |

Let's see. At 3,000 RMB per month that leaves us with 100 RMB per day to live on. Hmmm.. Is this enough?
Go to BLCU for its swing dancing class... To teach though??? If you say so... |
