Hi all in Nam,

How do I go about getting a criminal record check in Nam?

Is it possible to work for just 4 or 5 months (short term contract or any other way?)

Matt

Where are you from? If you aren't here yet get it from the local police where you live and get it off to the Vietnamese Embassy where you live.

Hi,

I'm from the UK, it takes 6 weeks to get a check done here and as far as I know they are only available to organisations like schools, hospitals etc. and not individuals. I volunteer at the local hospital and have had my checks take took approx 6 weeks. Individuals can't go into a policestation and ask for a check.

I plan to leave for Asia in 3 weeks. So is it poss. to have one done in Vietnam.

Is it possible to just work for 4 or 5 months as I want to be back in the UK for Sept.

Thanks

Matt

Hey Matt, check this webpage out http://www.gloucestershire.police.uk/contact/8.html

and then keep researching until you find what you need. It looks like you need a PROSECUTION/CONVICTION HISTORY. Certainly your hometown has a police dept which could help you out. 40 days is what they are citing here, and you can give someone a power of attorney if you aren't in the country.

I would highly recommend that you not expect to do this from Vietnam. If you can't do it at home, how could you reasonably think it would be easier to do from Vietnam?

Good luck.

I know everybody says you should get the criminal check done at home before coming to VN. However, in my case, I lived in Korea for most of the last four years and haven't been home to Canada in a very long time. Now that I'm here in VN, how do I go about getting the check? Any Canadians with experience doing it out there? From what I've found on the web, it certainly appears time-consuming and difficult...

Hi PC
You can go to the Cdn embassy here and they will fingerprint you and give you the appropriate forms to fill in and send off to the RCMP. There was a warning last time I checked the embassy website stating that it would take a minimum of 150 working days for the criminal check to come thru.......
Good luck Very Happy
