My wife and I are finishing up the TEFL course in Madrid this month (EBC Linguisticos) and are moving to Seville to teach English around April 20th. We are both excited to move to southern spain and live there for awhile (at least a year).

Does anyone out there have any advice on language schools that are better than others? EBC will help locate and initiate interviews, but we were just curious to hear about your own experiences...

Also, we'd love to meet new people in Seville. I know that Madrid has a few pubs/bars where ESL teachers hang out at, but I'm not sure about Seville. Anyone in Seville that can help? Thanks in advance for any help.

Smile

Sevilla is quite different from Madrid, pace is slower, apartments are cheaper but again depends on what part of town you plan to live in. The southern accent is also quite hard to understand, especially if you are used to the Spanish in Madrid. But again, maybe you speak Spanis quite well, I didn't at that time and it was hard for me to understand the way they spoke Spanish in the South. Remember Sevilla is a big tourist area so don't expect rock bottom prices. Wages, I'm afraid after working in both Madrid and Sevilla, there is a difference. You're looking at 12-15 euros an hour in Sevilla, in Madrid it's more like 15-18 euros an hour. But again, it is cheaper in Sevilla, so everything is relative. I studied with EBc in March of 2005, they helped me find work both in Madrid and the South, so just ask them. I hope you enjoy Sevilla as much as I did.
